It's all for who they gone done did it for.
Allowing for an absolute (the God we worship is the only true and living god--granted, it's debatable from the completely objective perspective, but necessary to make a quick point), what they did was different because of "who" commanded them to do it. I think. Perhaps it's an easier point to discuss in person rather than through the written word at nearly 3:00 AM.
But you make an interesting point, I'll give you that. Think about all the memories that must have flooded back for Abraham when he heard what he was commanded to do. "You want me to WHAT?!? I've been on the receiving end of that, and it was no fun. I thought that was bad stuff. Wasn't that why that angel came to stop it??"
